True Ecological Disaster

We have seen this groundwater basin systematically DE-WATERED by political decisions driven from the SHORT – SIGHTED San Francisco bay area politicians

Sep 06, 2013

To Families Protecting the Valley from Jim Verboon,

There is an actual ecological disaster of Biblical times occurring before our very eyes and under our feet. That disaster is the dewatering of the underground of the San Joaquin Valley. As I recently drove past San Luis reservoir west of Los Banos I was amazed at how little water was in this huge reservoir. I began thinking about the largest reservoir in California, that is the aquifers and groundwater beneath the San Joaquin Valley or at least it USED TO BE.

We have seen this groundwater basin systematically DE-WATERED by political decisions driven from the SHORT – SITED San Francisco bay area politicians aided by a few Judas' willing accomplices from the Valley. IF we do not see regulatory relief in the form of legislation that needs to pass both the House of Representatives and the United States SENATE and be BACKED to by the California legislature and its GOVERNOR we will see an event similar to the Midwest dust bowl that drove the Okies and the Arkies TO California(Grapes of wrath), but where will we migrate to now?

The GREATEST food growing region of the world will become a desert WASTELAND as there will be no reliable water in dry years and it will not be replenished with the next wet year and nothing grows here without irrigation water.

If these politicians do not act to restore our water from the Delta by amending the Endangered Species Act (ESA)and the Central Valley Project improvement act (CVPIA) need to be replaced now! That means the Governor, our United States Senators and our legislators in the state senate and assembly. They cannot choose to do nothing or simply make promises for 50 years down the road. Fifty years down the road or even 10 years is too late, not only for our farmers and farm workers, but for our American cities that depend on the FOOD we supply. Wake up people this is as serious as it gets!!!
