The Bee Must Be Stronger!
What defies common sense even more is that the Bee and Senator Dianne Feinstein continue to think the answer is to plead with unelected water bureaucrats

The Fresno Bee editorial Thursday said "federal Bureau of Reclamation’s decision Wednesday to export less water south from the Delta than is legally allowed defies common sense." We applaud the Bee for coming to this conclusion. It does defy common sense to let hundreds of thousands of acre feet of water to flow to the sea while farmers continue to have low allocations of water from the state and federal water systems.
What defies common sense even more is that the Bee and Senator Dianne Feinstein continue to think the answer is to plead with unelected water bureaucrats to find flexibility in their rules to allow more water to flow south. This approach has not worked in the past and there's no reason to think it will now. The bureaucrats work for us and our elected officials. We shouldn't be pleading with them to bend the system. We should be changing the rules and demanding they abide by the new rules.
Congressman David Valadao tried to address with his drought legislation last year when he stressed that 'mandated pumping levels are absolutely necessary.' Senator Feinstein refuses to pass anything like this saying 'such a bill would never pass the senate.'
In our humble opinion the Bee should not accept Senator Feinstein's excuses any longer. We can't let her off the hook by letting her say 'it won't pass' in the senate. We need a leader who will make it pass in the senate. The Bee should be demanding that she do just that. We here in the Valley need to fight for us. No one else will do it. The Bee needs to be part of this fight. They must demand that the Senator fight for mandated pumping levels. If we don't apply heat to the Senator we will continue to get the same results.
The Bee has come to their senses and realizes bureaucrats are not making common sense decisions. Now they must quit pleading with them and start demanding action.
