Something You Can Do

Friends and Neighbors,
This is important. Take a look at these TV ads. We think supporting the airing of these TV ads on Spanish language television across California is the most important thing we can do. Please take a look at them, then continue to read our message below to see what you can do to help.
We have met with the folks who produce the ads for El Agua es Asunto de Todos and who have shown us the results of their polling. There’s no question these ads have an impact. And, if we keep them going, they can change the dynamic of the water debate in the state of California.
As some of you know, the El Agua es Asunto de Todos folks have been running very strong Spanish-language ads in Southern California featuring former Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa speaking out on water issues in which he expresses his support for a reliable water supply for agriculture.
Villaraigosa is the most influential Latino leader in California. For him to have taken up our issue and to have spoken about it so directly to Latino California is a major achievement.
Now, we need to keep up the momentum by airing these new TV ads which educate viewers about the ludicrous situation we face in California where decisions are made that allow precious fresh water to flow into the ocean rather than be captured for agricultural and human use. We think you’ll agree that the ads are extremely well-done and effective.
We are engaged in a long struggle but this is the first time in quite a while we’ve seen results that make a difference and a plan for the future that gives us hope.
The goal now is to raise funds to make sure these new ads run on Spanish language television stations throughout the Valley and Southern California. That takes money.
Although Spanish language television is affordable it still requires dollars. But the good news here is every dollar donated is matched dollar for dollar by the San Luis Delta-Mendota Water Authority.
And what’s more, you can be assured that every dollar you donate goes directly to broadcast the ads. There is no overhead.
Once again, let me assure you, we’ve met with these folks. They know what they’re doing. They’re on the right track.
We hope you will help.
