Married to MWD
We believe it's the perfect marriage.

Some eyebrows are being raised because Gov. Jerry Brown appointed his new Director of the Dept. of Water Resources (DWR), who happens to be married to Tom Philp, a strategist for the Metropolitan Water District (MWD). People in Northern California thinks that tilts the water balance in the state a little too far to the South. We disagree. We believe it's the perfect marriage.
New DWR Director Karla Nemeth will be in charge of continuing the Delta tunnels plan which will deliver water to SoCal. Believe it or not, it doesn't matter who's in charge of DWR, L.A. is going to get their water. Might as well marry DWR to MWD right now. They are, in effect, married anyway. The 19 million people served by the MWD will get their water one way or another. The marriage of Philp and Nemeth is the perfect symbolism for what's going on. George Hartmann, a Stockton attorney who represents Delta farmers asks "Is it ethical? I don’t think so. Is it proper? I don’t think so.”
But, does it perfectly represent what's happening with the tunnels? We think so.
So, although this might raise a few eyebrows, think what would happen if the new DWR Director was married to the General Manager of Westlands. That would be a war.
