ER Gets It Right!

The ER would like to see a "plan that lays out some specifics that need to be done, estimates the costs, and comes up with a coherent way to pay for it." So would we.

The Chico Enterprise-Record editorialized about the California Water Plan which is done every five years.  As they say, "You may not even know there is a California Water Plan. And that’s just fine, because it doesn’t mean a darn thing."

They describe an that "lays out six fairly obvious general goals, without any details on how to meet them."  We hope you wouldn't be hoping for a list of new dams.  Although vague on whatever it is the state needs it "does get quite specific when talking about funding. Even without any identified projects, the plan speculates the state will need to come up with $90 billion over the next 50 years to complete."  So we need $90-billion for...something.

There are "10 pages of the plan are on funding options"...and "just two paragraphs" on whatever "infrastructure it is we need to improve."

The ER would like to see a "plan that lays out some specifics that need to be done, estimates the costs, and comes up with a coherent way to pay for it."  So would we.

But hey, it's good for another five years, or as the ER says, "Good for nothing for another five years."

Editorial: State water plan worth just a yawn
