Diverting the Sacramento River around the Delta with twin massive 44 foot diameter tunnels held together with "gaskets and dowels" will not make Southern California's water supply more reliable. It will add another earthquake prone segment to the system. Even with the tunnels the pumps at Tracy are still used and the collapsing California Aqueduct will still be in use. It is time to stop the Browndoggle and implement a real solution to California's water problems.
California Delta Chambers & Visitor's Bureau
We need to tunnels to ensure water supplies for millions of Californians who live in Southern California and the Bay area. Both areas are reliant on the delta delivery system. The Delta islands and levees are already collapsing because that is their nature. When they collapse, or in the event of a massive earthquake, the levees will fail, and millions of Californians will be without water for weeks or months.
