Sewage Treatment

Sep 18, 2018

Stockton's wastewater treatment processes have not been in compliance with pollutant discharge standards. Stockton is currently allowed to release millions of gallons of partially treated sewage downstream in the sacred Delta, and take an amount of freshwater from upstream equal to what is discharged. Partially treated wastewater contains nitrogen and phospherous, two main ingredients found in toxic Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Nitrogen also ends up in our groundwater. Endangered fish in the delta are challenged to survive within the tainted water.
