The State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) reports statewide water savings of 16.8\% in August. This is not 16.8\% of all the water in the state, rather, 16.8\% of a use that is 10\% to start with. 16.8\% of 10\% equals an actual water savings of 1.26\%. This does not create any "new" water being captured in storage, nor is it enough to offset needs for population growth. With the rainy season upon us, and major reservoirs at above average capacity, soon conserved water will be released to the ocean to create reservoir space for flood protection.

Statewide water saving sliding; at half of local conservation rate
