Pumps are Off
May 14, 2019
The state pumps are off today! They will capture ZERO water into storage before it reaches the ocean. They won't save a for ground water recharge, well-water quality improvement, to supply homes and families, or to grow food. The outflow today in a 24 hour period is 78,800 acre feet. This is equal to 25,677,058,800 gallons of freshwater that will become salted and unusable by anyone. The federal pumps will be storing just 2000 cfs. In the last two weeks, 4.5\% of the water flowing through the delta was saved for future periods of dry conditions, while 95.5\% flowed unimpaired to the sea.
