BIOLOGICAL OPINIONS IS RELEASED! As we've talked about many times in this group, the Bio Ops guide the operations of the Central Valley Project and the State Water Project pumping stations. The Bio Ops are "opinions", mostly based on science conducted in 2004, that dictate when and how much water can be captured before it flows to the ocean. It was their "opinion" reduced pumping would produce a rebound of endangered fish, but it has failed for over a decade. It has become obvious that the pumps are not solely responsible for dwindling fish populations after all, and President Trump's executive memo signed in Oct. 2018, mandated the Bio Ops be reviewed and d. Today the draft of the environmental impact report was released and made available for 45 days of public viewing. There will also be three public hearings. Anyone who truly cares about protecting endangered fish should not be opposed to the , which used the most current and best available science to more effectively manage this system.
